The wind rests in the boughs, And rocks itself but wearily; As if from distant celebrations Sounds the vanishing trace of a song. My happiness has gone to sleep, And only half laughs in a dream With beautiful, slender cheeks And lovely lips hardly. My love lies down In the lap of my song And stretches her delicate limbs And opens her eyes widely. The light reins of the verses Fall out of my hand, My song turns its wings Toward a green slumber-land.
