Così stupisce e cade
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Available translation(s): ENG
Così stupisce e cade
pallido e smorto in viso
al fulmine improviso
l'attonito pastor.
Ma quando poi s'avvede
del vano suo spavento,
sorge, respira e riede
a numerar l'armento
disperso dal timor.

Thus, the shepherd, shaken to his core
Language: English  after the Italian (Italiano)
Thus, the shepherd, shaken to his core,
becomes shocked and falls to the ground,
wan and pale of complexion,
at the sudden coming of a storm.
But when he then notices
his vain apprehension,
he rises, breathes at last,
and returns to count up his flock,
having been dispersed by fear.
