Jeden Abend, wenn es dunkelt, Und das Meer schon nächtlich funkelt, Klagen laut im Mondesstrahl Tolle Kater ihre Qual. Wenn in unsrem stillen Campe, Leser sitzen bei der Lampe, Da ertönt im süssen Klang Serenading ein Gesang: 'Put that light out! Put that light out! Hurry up, hurry up, put it right out! In the window on the right I still see a little light! What a nuisance, what a nuisance every night!'
