You can help us modernize! The present website has been online for a very long time and we want to bring it up to date. As of April 20, we are $4,600 away from our goal of $15,000 to fund the project. The fully redesigned site will be better for mobile, easier to read and navigate, and ready for the next decade. Please give today and join dozens of other supporters in making this important renovation possible!

Im wunderschönen Monat Mai,
Als alle Knospen sprangen, 1
Da ist in meinem Herzen
Die Liebe aufgegangen.

Im wunderschönen Monat Mai,
Als alle Vögel sangen, 2
Da hab' ich ihr gestanden
Mein Sehnen und Verlangen.

Es waren drei lust'ge Gesellen,
Drei lust'ge Gesellen am Rhein;
Die liebten nichts mehr als den hellen,
Den funkelnden, peilenden Wein.

Am Strande "Zur goldenen Traube"
Erklangen drei Gläser zumal -
Als leis durch die grünende Laube
Der Schimmer des Mondes sich stahl.

Die Berge - die herrlichen sieben -
Sie sah'n in die Wolken hinein;
Ein Schifflein kam leise getrieben,
Es wogte und rauschte der Rhein.

Und über die Berge gezogen
Kam leise ein bläulicher Duft
Und legte sich über die Wogen,
Es duftete träumend die Luft.

Und über die Berge gezogen
Kam leise die Fürstin der Nacht,
Und spiegelte tief in den Wogen
Des Auges bezaubernde Pracht.

Die lust'gen Gesellen vergaßen
Im Glase den perlenden Wein.
Sie träumten, und schweigend sie saßen
Und sah'n in die Weite hinein.

Die Gletscher leuchten
Im Mondenlicht,
Und Thränen feuchten
Mein Angesicht.
Die Stürme sausen,
Die Möven schrein,
Die Wogen brausen,
Ich denke dein!

Das Land entschwindet
Schon fern dem Blick,
Doch zu dir findet
Mein Herz zurück;
Ich will ihm Schwingen
Des Liedes leihn,
Es soll dir singen:
Ich denke dein!
