Vagues géantes qui vous brisez en hurlant
Sur des plages désertes et lointaines,
Enveloppé dans le drap de votre écume,
Emportez-moi avec vous !

Rafales de l'ouragan, qui emportez
Les feuilles flétries de la forêt élevée,
Entraîné dans le tourbillon aveugle,

Nuages de tempêtes, que l'éclair traverse,
Et qui par le feu ornez les bords déchirés, 
Arraché dans le brouillard sombre,

Leur douce clarté me rappelle
La lueur tremblante de l'aube

La douce brise qui gémit doucement embrasse
Les vagues légères qui ondulent en jouant ;
le soleil embrasse le nuage à l'ouest
et le teint de pourpre et d'or ;
la flamme autour du tronc en feu
se glisse pour embrasser une autre flamme ;
et même le saule, s'inclinant sous son poids,
à la rivière qui l'embrasse lui retourne un baiser.
