Kurzes Erwachen

Language: German (Deutsch)

Ich bin im Mai gegangen
Und hab' es nicht gewußt,
Also von Schmerz befangen
Ist die erkrankte Brust.

Ein Vogel hat gesungen
Im jungbelaubten Wald,
Da ist ins Herz gedrungen
Mir seine Stimme bald.

Vom Aug' ist mir gefallen
Ein schwerer [Tränentau]1,
Drauf sah den Mai ich wallen
Durch Erd' und Himmel blau.

Als Vogel ausgesungen
Flog er ins weite Land,
Und wie sein Lied verklungen,
Um mich der Mai verschwand.

Kort ontwaken

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Ik ging in mei naar buiten
Maar ik besefte 't niet,
Zó lag mijn hart aan duigen,
Bevangen door verdriet.

Een vogel heeft gezongen
In 't net weer groene woud,
Mij is in 't hart gedrongen
Weldra zijn stem van goud.

Toen viel er uit mijn ogen
Een zware tranendauw,
En 'k zag de mei zich hogen
Door aard' en hemelblauw.

De vogel, uitgezongen,
Vloog naar een ver land heen;
Net was zijn lied verklonken,
Om mij de mei verdween.
