Abends, des Abends war's finster gar sehr, Niemand im Dörfelein leuchtete mehr. Niemand mehr leuchtet' im Dörfelein, Sang keine Lerche mehr dort am Rain. Heim führt der Bursche sein Mägdelein, Führet vorbei sie am grünen Hain, Führt sie am Weidengebüsche vorbei, Redet so viel und so mancherlei. Vieles erzählten dort beide sich, klagten die Not sich so bitterlich. «Wirst du gescholten, mein Liebchen, um mich, Werd ich hingegegen gescholten um dich. Möge die Liebe sich trennen geschwind, So wie wir früher vereiniget sind. Möge sich trennen mit Regen und Wind, So wie wir früher vereiniget sind.
