sprach, dies, Dämon, ist des Menschen
schauerlich Symbol, ein Fuß aus
grobem Leder, nicht Natur mehr,
doch auch noch nicht Geist geworden,
eine Wanderform vom Tierfuß
zu Merkurs geflügelter Sohle.
Als ein Bildnis des Gelächters
stand ich da, ein neuer Heiliger.
Doch der Dämon, unbestimmbar
seufzend, bückte sich und schrieb mit
seinem Finger auf die Erde.
