Ihr Nymphen, ihr Hirten der liebe getreu, hier kränzt euch mit Myrten und feyret den May! Hier unter den Reben, die Bacchus gepflanzt, Euch Schatten zu geben, hier paart euch, und tanzt! Euch grünet die Weide, Euch blühet der Hain, Euch ladet zur Freude Die Nachtigall ein. Dem Hasser der Tugend Nag’ Unmuth die Brust; Der Unschuld und Jugend Gebühret nur Luft. Ja, Tugend und Freude Sind ewig verwandt; Es knüpfet sie beide Ein schwesterlich Band. Ein reines Gewissen, Ein ehrliches Herz Macht munter zu Küßen, Zu Tanzen, zum Scherz. Ihr Hirten, ihr Nymphen, Es gab euch ein Gott Die Gabe, zu schimpfen, Und Mienen zum Spott; Des Tanzes Verächter Entweihen den Ort: Erhebt ein Gelächter, Und lachet sie fort!
