Still geh' ich aufwärts durch den Wald
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Still geh' ich aufwärts durch den Wald,
Den grünen, blüthebunten;1
Auf jähem Felsen steh' ich bald,
Und blicke froh nach unten.
Wie seh' ich hier das enge Thal
So hold sich niederbiegen;2
Die Dörflein ruhen allzumal,
Wie Kinder in den3 Wiegen.

Upon a cliff
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Silently I wander upward through the forest,
The green [forest], colourful with blossoms;
Soon I stand upon the craggy cliff,
And gaze joyfully downward.
From here I see the cramped valley
Curving down so beautifully;
The little villages are all reposing
Like children in their cradles.
