Das Ufer ist so morgenstill

Language: German (Deutsch)

Das Ufer ist so morgenstill,
Noch kaum ein Fischlein springen will.
Am Bänkchen schon, in Rohr und Ried,
Ein Wäschermägdlein emsig kniet.

O Jugendblut, kaum fünfzehn Jahr,
Verschlafen noch ihr Augenpaar,
Das Röckchen dürftig, hochgeschürzt,
Mit Singen sie die Zeit sich kürzt.

"Am jüngsten Tag ich aufersteh'
Und gleich nach meinem Liebsten seh',
und wenn ich ihn nicht finden kann,
leg' wieder mich zum Schlafen dann.

"O Herzeleid, du Ewigkeit!
Selbander nur ist Seligkeit!
Und kommt mein Liebster nicht hinein,
mag nicht im Paradiese sein!"

De oever is zo ochtendstil

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

De oever is zo ochtendstil,
Geen visje nu al springen wil,
Op ’n zandbank wel, in bies en riet
Men ’n knielend wassend meisje ziet.

O ‘t jonge ding, net vijftien jaar,
Met slaap nog in haar ogenpaar,
Met ’n schamel rokje, hoog geschort,
Al zingende de tijd zich kort.

“Op de1 jongste dag sta ik weer op
En daad’lijk zoek ik2 mijn liefste op,
En als ik hem niet vinden kan,
Leg ‘k mij opnieuw te slapen dan.

“O groot verdriet, o eeuwigheid!
Slechts samenzijn is zaligheid!
En komt dan niet de liefste mijn,
Dan wil ‘k in ’t paradijs niet zijn!”
