Alles Tagverlangen
Language: German (Deutsch)

Alles Tagverlangen
Ist zur Ruh gegangen
Rosenrot im Rohr --
Aus den Birkenzweigen,
Wo er still gehangen,
Bleich und netzgefangen,
Hebt in sanftem Steigen
Sich der Mond empor.
Leise, weiße Seiden
Kleiden jetzt die Weiden,
Schläfernd schlürft der Bach --
Schober auf den Wiesen
Hocken wie die Riesen,
Und die dunklen Hunde,
Ruhlos in der Runde,
Wandern wach.

All the yearnings of the day
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
All the yearnings of the day
Have gone to rest,
Rosily red in the reeds --
From among the birch branches
Where it hung quietly,
Pale and ensnared,
Gently ascending
The moon rises into the heavens.
Quiet white silks
Now clothe the willows,
Sleepily sips the stream --
Hay-ricks on the meadows
Crouch like giants.
And the dark dogs
Restlessly on their rounds
Wander alertly.
