Erstarrung

Language: German (Deutsch)

Ich such' im Schnee vergebens
Nach ihrer Tritte Spur,
[Hier, wo wir oft gewandelt
Selbander durch die]1 Flur.

Ich will den Boden küssen,
Durchdringen Eis und Schnee
Mit meinen heißen Thränen,
Bis ich die Erde seh'.

Wo find' ich eine Blüthe,
Wo find' ich grünes Gras?
Die Blumen sind erstorben,
Der Rasen sieht so blaß.

Soll denn kein Angedenken
Ich nehmen mit von hier?
Wenn meine Schmerzen schweigen,
Wer sagt mir dann von ihr?

Mein Herz ist wie [erfroren]2,
Kalt starrt ihr Bild darin:
Schmilzt je das Herz mir wieder,
Fließt auch [das]3 Bild dahin.

Eanglach

Language: Irish (Gaelic) after the German (Deutsch)

Cuardaím gan rath sa tsneachta
Ar lorg rian a bróg
Áit a mbímís ag fánaíocht
Mé féin agus mo stór.

Is mian liom é a phógadh –
An talamh sioctha glé.
É ’phógadh le mo dheora
Go dtí gur léir an chré.

Cá bhfaighidh mé na blátha
Cá bhfaighinn an féar glas?
Ná blátha tá siad dreoite
Níl fágtha ach an gas.

Nach mbeidh aon chuimhne uirthi
Nach mbeidh sí ann níos mó?
Nuair bheidh mo phianta ’mithe
Cá bhfeicfidh mé a cló?

Is reoite ’tá mo chroíse
A híomhá san ’na lár;
Má thagann lá a leáite
An leáfaidh a híomhá?
