Solang noch Berg’ und Tale blühn,
Durch sie melodisch Flüsse ziehn,
Ein Vogel hoch im Blauen schwebt,
Goldähren licht im Westhauch wallen,
Gebirge stehn, Alphörner schallen:
Hat diese Welt nicht ausgelebt.
Und was die Menschen tun und treiben,
Ob frei sie oder Knechte bleiben,
Dem Frühling gräbt es sich nicht ein,
Kein Treiber bringt mich je in Zweifel,
-- Ist er ein Teufel aller Teufel --
Er ändert nicht der Sonne schein.

Comfort
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
As long as hills and valleys bloom,
[And] rivers flow through them melodiously,
[As long as] a bird soars high in the blue heavens,
[As long as] golden ears of grain sway luminously in the westwind,
[As long as] mountains stand, alphorns ring out:
This world has not ceased being alive.
And whatever the goings-on of mankind may be,
If people are free or if they remain slaves,
Springtime is untouched by all that,
No master shall ever cause me to have doubts,
-- Be he the most devilish of all the devils --
He cannot alter the shining of the sun.
