njöt morgonen i fulla drag
så, gissa, vad han skåda fick?
Spritt naken älva fin och kvick! 

För ögonen sin hand han bär,
min Gud, min Gud, det rent ej är,
men liten älva så muntert ler:
"Så se då hit, jag råder er!" 

Och småningom sin hand han tar
från ögonen. Jo, rent det var, jo rent det var.
Hans barm, hans gård fick blomsterskrud,
ty hon var vårens sändebud.

Keijukainen ja kardinaali

Kun kardinaali eräänä kauniina päivänä
nautti aamustaan täysin siemauksin,
niin arvaatteko, mitä hän näki?
Apposen alastoman, soman ja vikkelän keijukaisen!

Hän peitti silmänsä kädellään:
"Hyvä Jumala, Hyvä Jumala, tuo ei ole puhdasta",
mutta pieni keijukainen hymyili iloisesti:
"Katsokaa nyt sentään tänne!"

Ja pikkuhiljaa kardinaali otti käden
pois silmiltään: "Kyllä, puhdasta se oli."
Hänen rintansa ja pihansa täyttyivät kukkaloistolla
sillä se keiju oli kevään airut.
