Nu är det höst, stormande häfver sig hafvets bröst. Ack, men hur gerna jag sute ändå derute! Länge jag såg seglet i vester, det flög på sin våg. Ack! det är lyckligt, får följa Frithiof på bölja. Bölja, du blå, sväll ej så högt! det går fort nog ändå. Lysen, I stjernor, och sägen seglaren vägen! När det blir vår, kommer han hem, men den älskade går ej till hans möte i salen, icke i dalen; ligger i mull, bleknad och kall för sin kärleks skull, eller hon klagar och blöder, offrad af bröder. - Falk, som han glömt! du skall bli min; jag vill älska dig ömt. Sjelf vill jag mata för egarn vingade jägarn. Här på hans hand virkar jag in dig i dukens rand, vingar af silfver och rika guldklor tillika. Falkvingar tog Freja en gång och kring rymderna drog, sökte i norr och i söder älskade Öder. Länte du ock vingarna ut, de ej bure mig dock. Döden allena mig bringar gudarnas vingar. Jägare skön, sitt på min skullra och blicka åt sjön! Ack! hur vi längte och blicke, kommer han icke. När jag är död, kommer han säkert, mins då hvad jag bjöd: helsa och helsa du åter Frithiof, som gråter!

C'est maintenant l'automne, Le tumulte se lève au sein de la mer. Mais ô comme j'aimerais courir dehors ! J'ai vu longtemps la voile à l'ouest voler sur les flots. Ô comme j'aurais aimé suivre Frithiof sur la vague. Vague, toi qui es bleue, ne monte pas si haut ! tu vas bien assez vite. Vous étoiles, éclairez et indiquez le chemin à ses voiles ! Lorsque ce sera le printemps Il reviendra à la maison, mais sa bien-aimée n'ira pas à sa rencontre , ni dans la grande salle, ni dans la vallée ; allongée dans la terre blême et froide à cause de son amour , elle se lamentera et saignera, victime de ses frères. Faucon qu'il a oublié ! Tu restera mien ; je t'aimerai tendrement. Je t'alimenterai moi-même pour ton maître, chasseur ailé. Sur sa main, là, au bord de mon ouvrage je te broderai des ailes d'argent et aussi de riches serres d'or. Un jour Freja prit des ailes de faucon et tournant dans l'espace, chercha au nord et au sud Oder son amant. Si tu me prêtais tes ailes, elles ne me porteraient pas. Seule la mort m'apportera les ailes des dieux. Beau chasseur, pose-toi sur mon épaule et regarde la mer ! Hélas ! Nous avons beau soupirer et regarder, il ne vient pas. Quand je serai morte, il reviendra c'est sûr, alors fais ce que je voulais : Salue, salue encore Frithiof, qui pleurera !
