Friedlich bekämpfen

Language: German (Deutsch)

Friedlich bekämpfen
  Nacht sich und Tag.
Wie das zu dämpfen,
  Wie das zu lösen vermag!

Der mich bedrückte,
  Schläfst du schon, Schmerz?
Was mich beglückte
Sage, was war's doch, mein Herz?

Freude wie Kummer,
  Fühl' ich, zerrann,
Aber den Schlummer
  Führten sie leise heran.

Und im Entschweben,
  Immer empor,
Kommt mir das Leben
  Ganz, wie ein Schlummerlied vor.

Vreedzaam aan 't vechten

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Vreedzaam aan 't vechten
Zijn dag en nacht.
Hoe 't te beslechten,
Wie dat te dempen heeft kracht?

Die mij bedrukte,
Slaap jij al, smart?
Wat mij verrukte,
Zeg me, wat was 't toch, mijn hart?

Vreugde en zorgen
Voeld' ik vergaan,
Echter de sluimer
Voerden zij stilletjes aan.

En in 't wegzweven,
Hoger aldoor,
Komt mij het leven
Echt als een slaapliedje voor.
