In jouw klare ogen blonk een
Hunk'ring, 't was een teder lonken.
Alles heeft in 't hart weerklonken,
En mijn blikken zijn gezonken,
En de winden zongen liefdeslied'ren!
 
Als een sterrenpaar
Glansden jouw ogen, je wangen
Wiegden jouw gouden haar,
Glimlachvogels vangen
Mocht ik, en jouw zoete woordenschaar
Wekte het diepste verlangen;
O kus, wat was je mond toch brandend rood!
Daar stierf ik, vond een leven eerst in de1 mooiste dood.
