Fruchtlos hienieden Ringst du nach Frieden! Täuschende Schimmer Winken dir immer; Doch, wie die Furchen des gleitenden Kahns, Schwinden die Zaubergebilde des Wahns! Arribar i dir adéu, cercar i morigerar, témer i anhelar, dubtar i creure, pobresa i abundància, misèria i luxe, alternen a la terra com el dia i la nit! Inútilment aquí baix lluites per la pau! Besllums il·lusoris constantment et fan senyals; però, com el deixant de la nau lliscant, les imatges sortilleres de la quimera s’esvaneixen! Enlaire, vers les estrelles, a la lluminosa llunyania, esguarda, des de la terra, coratjosa la fe: només allà un cinyell immortal enllaça veritat i pau, unió i constància! Corrents propícies porten els bons, condueixen els honrats, segurs cap a port i, amb un cant harmoniós apagant-se, la vida es clou a l’ànima noble! Patir virilment, morigerar amb afany, refusar amb gosadia, aquí rau el nostre anhel, la nostra lluita roman en un cor de ferro, a nosaltres, conscients de la irreprotxable volença.
