Liebchens Vertrauen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Hold erblüht die Rose
Bei der Sonne Schein,
Will des duft'gen Lebens
Wonnig sich erfreun.
Liebchen, Dein Vertrauen
Gleicht der Sonne Schein;
Möchtest Du's der Rose,
Meinem Herzen, weihn.
Sieh, die Rose welket,
Flieht die Sonne fort;
Liebchen, Du, verschulde
Nicht des Herzens Mord.
Glaube meinen Worten,
Nimmer täuschen sie:
Weckt der Lenz auch Rosen,
Herzen weckt er -- nie!

My beloved’s trust
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The rose blooms beautifully
When the sun shines,
Blissfully it wishes
To rejoice in scented life.
Beloved, your trust
Is like the shining of the sun;
May you dedicate it
To the rose, [which is] my heart.
See, the rose wilts
If the sun departs;
Beloved, be not you guilty
Of the murder of my heart.
Believe my words,
They never deceive you:
Even if spring awakens roses,
It never awakens hearts!
