Die zu späte Ankunft der Mutter

Language: German (Deutsch)

Beschattet von blühenden Ästen,
Gekühlet von spielenden Westen,
Lag Rosilis am Bache hier
Und Hylas neben ihr.

Sie sangen sich scherzende Lieder,
Sie warf ihn mit Blumen, er wieder;
Sie neckte ihn, er neckte sie,
Wer weiss wie lang’ und wie.

Von Lenz und von Liebe gerühret,
Ward Hylas zum Küssen verführet.
Er küßte sie, er drückte sie,
Daß sie um Hilfe schrie.

Die Mutter kam eilend und fragte,
Was Hylas für Frevel hier wagte?
Die Tochter rief: es ist geschehn,
Ihr könnt nun wieder gehn.

De moeder kwam te laat

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Beschaduwd door bloeiende linden,
Verkoeld fijn door spelende winden,
Lag Rosilis aan ’t beekje, waar
Toen Hylas lag naast haar.

De een zong wat leuks voor de ander,
Zij wierpen met bloemen elkander;
Zij plaagde hem, hij plaagde haar,
Het was een dartel paar1.

Door lente en liefde bewogen,
Is Hylas aan ‘t kussen getogen.
Hij kuste haar, omklemde haar,
Zij riep om hulp, vandaar.

De moeder kwam haastig en vroeg toen,
Wat Hylas voor kwaad haar wou aandoen.
De dochter riep: het is gedaan,
U kunt nu wel weer gaan.
