Später Triumph
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG

Delayed triumph
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
And about his ribs he wrapped a hairless ox-skin,
Stiff with dirt, an old lining of a shield.
And he bedded the woman who sells bread,
And the man-mad wenches,
The dirtiest of them. Utterly unclean, too, was his trade.
His neck was often in the stocks, often similarly on the wheel.
And often, too, he was beaten with rods.
And also had his head defiled and his beard plucked.
And now? And now? He steps up into the resplendent coach.
