Fremd bleibe deine Seele und dir eigen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG

May your soul remain foreign and your own,
and not suffer the touch of the world.
Put on a garment that no one knows,
cover your face with a veil
and stride through the streets, greeting this person
and smilingly call that one “oh friend”,
and yet only think of the one who says:
"Thus I love you in your cool loftiness,
This, sister and companion, I say to you!"
The others, however, shall say "liar"!
