Wenn sich der Tag des Jahrs hinabgeneiget
Und rings das Feld mit den Gebirgen schweiget,
So glänzt das Blau des Himmels an den Tagen,
Die wie Gestirn in heitrer Höhe ragen.
Der Wechsel und die Pracht ist minder umgebreitet,
Dort, wo ein Strom hinab mit Eile gleitet,
Der Ruhe Geist ist aber in den Stunden
Der prächtigen Natur mit Tiefigkeit verbunden.

Quand le jour de l'année s'est courbé,
Et le champ avec les montagnes tout autour se tait,
Alors le bleu du ciel brille en ces jours
Qui s'élèvent comme des étoiles dans les hauteurs dégagées.
Le changement et la splendeur semblent moins étendus
Là où une rivière se précipite avec hâte,
Mais l'esprit du repos est par moments
Profondément lié avec la splendeur de la nature.
