Flieder
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Einst war es hier Frühling
Und sonniger Mai,
Es blühte der Flieder
Und Rosen dabei.
Mein Herz war voll Hoffen,
Es lachte und sang,
Nun ist es so traurig,
Nun schlägt es so bang.
Es fielen die Blätter,
Entlaubt ist der Wald,
Verblüht ist der Flieder,
Mein Lied verhallt!

Lilac
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Once it was spring here
And sunny May,
The lilacs were blooming
And roses as well.
My heart was full of hope,
It laughed and sang,
Now it is so sad,
Now it beats so anxiously.
The leaves fell,
The woods are stripped of foliage,
The lilac blossoms have withered,
My song has died away!
