Beter am Meer
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
O holder Himmelswind, führ in die Welt
Die Barke mit dem seidenblauen Zelt!
Sind Menschenherzen nimmer ein Magnet,
So sei Du gut, der gnadenhaft uns weht.
Sie warten doch am trüben Nebelstrand,
Ihr harrend Herz hinhaltend in der Hand.
O lass das Meer vom Friedenslicht beziehn!
Der Strand ist weit. Sie können alle knien.

Worshipers by the sea
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
O gentle wind of heaven, lead out into the world
the boat with blue silk sails!
Though human hearts are never a magnet,
be good, you that blow mercifully for us!
They wait indeed on the gloomy, misty shore,
holding out waiting hearts in their hands.
O let the sea be covered by the light of peace!
The shore is wide. They can all kneel.
