Lutad mot gärdet

Lutad mot gärdet stod
Gossen vid flickans arm,
Såg öfver slagen äng:
"Sommarens tid har flytt,
Blommorna vissnat re'n;
Skön är din kind likväl,
Rosor och liljor der
Blomstra, som förr, ännu."
Våren kom åter, då
Stod han allena der!
Flickan var borta -- låg
Vissnad i jordens famn;
Ängen var grön igen,
Leende, blomsterrik.

Gelehnt ans Gatter
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Swedish (Svenska)
Gelehnt ans Gatter stand
der Bursch, sein Lieb im Arm,
sein Blick auf kahler Au:
„Der Sommer ist dahin,
die Blumen schon verwelkt;
doch auf deinen Wangen,
blühn wie einst die Rosen
und die Lilien schön.“
Der Lenz kam wieder, da
stand er alleine dort!
Das Mädchen fort - sie lag
verwelkt in Erdens Schoß;
die Au grünte erneut,
lächelnd, an Blüten reich.
