Abendlich schon rauscht der Wald

Language: German (Deutsch)

Abendlich schon rauscht der Wald
Aus den tiefsten Gründen,
Droben wird der Herr nun bald
[An die Sternlein zünden]1,
Wie so stille in den Schlünden,
Abendlich nur rauscht der Wald.

Alles geht zu seiner Ruh,
[Wald und Welt versausen]2,
Schauernd hört der Wandrer zu,
Sehnt sich [recht]3 nach Hause,
Hier in Waldes [grüner]4 Klause
Herz, geh' [endlich auch]5 zur Ruh!

Avondlijk reeds ruist het woud

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Avondlijk reeds ruist het woud
Uit de diepste dalen,
Boven laat de Heer vertrouwd
Gauw weer sterren stralen,
En de stilte blijft diep dralen,
Avondlijk slechts ruist het woud.

Alles zoekt nu zacht zijn rust,
Geen geluid blijft hangen,
Wie het hoort rilt onbewust,
Gaat naar huis verlangen,
Hier in deze groene gangen,
Hart, ga eind'lijk ook ter rust!
