Ostern ist zwar schon vorbei
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG FRE
Ostern ist zwar schon vorbei,
Also dies kein Osterei;
Doch wer sagt, es sei kein Segen,
Wenn im Mai die Hasen legen?
Aus der Pfanne, aus dem Schmalz
Schmeckt ein Eilein jedenfalls,
Und kurzum, mich tät's gaudieren,
Dir dies Ei zu präsentieren,
Und zugleich tät es mich kitzeln,
Dir ein Rätsel drauf zu kritzeln.
Die Sophisten und die Pfaffen
Stritten sich mit viel Geschrei:
Was hat Gott zuerst erschaffen,
Wohl die Henne? wohl das Ei?
Wäre das so schwer zu lösen?
Erstlich ward ein Ei erdacht:
Doch weil noch kein Huhn gewesen,
Schatz, so hat's der Has gebracht.
W. Ulrich sets stanzas 3-4

Pâques est déjà bien passé
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Pâques est déjà bien passé,
Ce n'est donc pas un œuf de Pâques ;
Mais qui dirait que ce n'est pas une bénédiction
Que les lapins déposent en mai ?
Dans la poêle, dans le saindoux
Un petit œuf est toujours bon,
Et en bref, me réjouit.
Ça me titille de te présenter cet œuf
Et en même temps
De te gribouiller dessus une devinette.
Les sophistes et les curés
S'empoignent à grands cris :
Qui Dieu a-t-il crée d'abord,
Est-ce la poule ? est-ce l'œuf ?
Était-ce donc si difficile de répondre ?
D'abord un œuf fut imaginé :
Mais comme aucune poule n'existait,
Trésor, le lapin l'a apportée.
