Der Fluß mit leisem Klingen,
Er schlief nicht in der Nacht,
Begrüßt das erste Singen,
Das über ihm erwacht.
Ein Schifflein, ohne Hasten,
Schwimmt durch den Uferkranz,
Ihm glühen schon die Masten
In einem roten Glanz.
Nun legt der Wind sich leise
Ins Segel ihm hinein,
Und rascher geht die Reise
Ins volle Licht hinein.

Lever du jour
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Le fleuve, d'un son léger,
Il ne dort pas la nuit,
Salue le premier chant
Qui s'éveille au-dessus de lui.
Un petit bateau, sans hâte,
Navigue entre les rives
Ses mâts déjà éclairés
Par une lumière rouge.
Maintenant le vent doucement
Gonfle ses voiles,
Et plus rapide est le voyage,
En pleine lumière.
