Tebis ventijols, flaire de flors, tot el goig de la primavera i la jovenesa; llavis frescos que tasten les besades, suaument bressolat en un tendre pit; robant després el nèctar dels raïms; danses en rotllana i jocs i bromes: tot allò que els sentits poden obtenir: Ai! Satisfarà això mai el cor? Quan rellents brillen els ulls amb la dolça rosada de la melangia, llavors dessegellades i en ells reflectides es mostren a l’esguard les prades del cel. Amb quin reconfort i en un sol instant, s’extingeix el foc de la passió furient! Tal com amb la pluja es conreen les flors, així s’eleva l’ànim esllanguit. No és pas amb rius d’aigües dolces que Prometeu forçà el nostre aiguacuit: no, ho va fer amb llàgrimes; per això en l’anhel i el dolor ens sentim a casa nostra. Amargament s’acreixen aquestes deus per als sentits terrenals però dels estrets s’apressen dins del mar de l’amor.
