Ik ben ontsnapt aan de wereld
waar ik voorheen zoveel tijd aan verspild heb.
Zij heeft zo lang niets van me vernomen
dat ze best kan geloven dat ik gestorven ben.
Het laat me ook volkomen koud
of ze me voor gestorven houdt;
ik kan er ook helemaal niets tegen inbrengen,
want in feite ben ik gestorven voor de wereld.
Ik ben onbereikbaar voor het gewoel van de wereld
en ik rust in een stil gebied,
ik leef alleen (in mezelf en) in mijn hemel
in mijn liefhebben, in mijn lied.
