Elle, le doux mystère a gonflé son corsage;
Lui, de son teint hâlé, voit pâlir le carmin;
Elle rit de leur joie, elle, la douce reine;

Summer
Language: English  after the French (Français)
The sun, with its fire, ignites their faces:
Pensive, along the wheat, they follow the path.
The cicada at rest is silent upon their passing…
They walk, in their strength, giving each other [their hands].
Her, the sweet mystery filled her blouse;
Him, with his bronzed complexion, watches the carmine grow pale;
They still love each other; but [religion] is wiser…
Yesterday is already far away, here tomorrow is coming!
Through the cornflowers, before them, under the thatch,
Play, gay tyrants of this little kingdom,
Two blond elves, echoing their song.
She laughs [at] their joy, she, the sweet queen;
Him, [a] dreamer, he admires her in her serene beauty,
Blessing God, who gives to love his harvest!
