 mit dir zum Licht zu entfliehen;
 der Himmel öffnete für uns sein Gewölk;
 noch nie gesehener Glanz, göttlicher Schein war zu ahnen.

 Leider! Ach! Trauriges Erwachen vom Traum;
 Ich rufe dich, o Nacht, gib mir meine Trugbilder wieder;

 Kehr zurück, kehr zurück, strahlende,
 kehr zurück, o geheimnisvolle Nacht!
