Det är inte roligt att stå
och bulta längre Katinka.
Månen lyser och världen gå,
och de frusna stjärnorna blinka.
Min knoge är rod, min näsa blå.
Seså, lyft nu på dörrens klinka.
Glänta på dörrn och låt mig få
tak över huvudet, din slinka.
Du skall duka ett bord med små
förgyllda koppar som vinka,
öl och brännvin och ost för två
och så en fet och rykande skinka.

The Old Dutchman
Language: English  after the Swedish (Svenska)
It's not funny to stand
knocking at Katinka's.
The moon shines and the world goes,
and the frozen stars twinkle.
My ankle is red, my nose is blue.
Come on, lift up the door latch.
Set the door ajar and let me
find a shelter, you strumpet.
You shall set a table with small
golden cups that twinkle,
beer and brandy and cheese for two
and then a fat smoked ham.
