Wär' ich nie aus euch gegangen

Language: German (Deutsch)

Wär' ich nie aus euch gegangen,
Wälder, hehr und wunderbar!
Hieltet liebend mich umfangen
Doch so [lange, lange]1 Jahr'.

Wo in euren Dämmerungen
[Vogelsang]2 und Silberquell,
Ist auch manches Lied entsprungen
Meinem Busen, frisch und hell.

[Euer]3 Wogen, [euer]3 [Halle]4,
Euer Säuseln nimmer müd',
Eure Melodien alle
Weckten in der Brust das Lied.

Hier in diesen weiten Triften
Ist mir alles öd' und stumm,
Und ich schau' in blauen Lüften
Mich nach Wolkenbildern um.

[In den Busen eingezwinget]5,
Regt sich selten nur das Lied;
[Wie der Vogel halb nur singet]6,
Den von Baum und [Bach]7 man schied.

Nostalgia di andare per i boschi

Language: Italian (Italiano) after the German (Deutsch)

Non fossi mai uscito da voi,
boschi, maestosi e stupendi!
Mi avete tenuto innamorato
per lunghi, lunghi anni!

Nei vostri crepuscoli,
tra canti d'uccelli e fonti d'argento,
è sgorgato anche qualche canto
dal mio petto, fresco e chiaro.

Le vostre onde, i vostri suoni,
il vostro stormire mai stanco,
tutte le vostre melodie
hanno destato nel mio petto il canto.

Qui in questi ampi prati
tutto è per me triste e muto,
e mi guardo intorno nell'aria azzurra
e vedo le forme delle nuvole.

Quando il petto è oppresso
raramente si muove il canto:
come l'uccello canta a metà
separato dall'albero e dalle fronde.
