Im Traum sah ich die Geliebte

Language: German (Deutsch)

Im Traum sah ich die Geliebte
Ein banges, bekümmertes Weib,
Verwelkt und abgefallen
Der sonst so blühende Leib.

Ein Kind trug sie auf dem Arme,
Ein andres führt sie an der Hand,
Und sichtbar ist Armut und Trübsal
Am Gang und Blick und Gewand.

Sie schwankte über den Marktplatz,
Und da begegnet sie mir
Und sieht mich an, und ruhig
Und schmerzlich sag ich zu ihr:

Komm mit nach meinem Hause,
Denn du bist blaß und krank;
Ich will durch Fleiß und Arbeit
Dir schaffen Speis' und Trank.

Ich will auch pflegen und warten
Die Kinder, die bei dir sind,
Vor allem aber dich selber,
Du armes, unglückliches Kind.

Ich will dir nie erzählen,
Daß ich dich geliebet hab',
Und wenn du stirbst, so will ich
[Weinen]1 auf deinem Grab.

In sogno vidi l'amata

Language: Italian (Italiano) after the German (Deutsch)

In sogno vidi l'amata
una donna triste e afflitta,
sfiorito e abbattuto
il corpo una volta così florido.

Un bimbo portava in braccio,
un altro per la mano,
con evidente miseria e pena
nel passo, nello sgaurdo, nell'abito.

Camminava a fatica per la piazza del mercato
e là mi incontrò
e mi vide, e tranquillo
e addolorato io le dissi:

Vieni a casa mia,
tu sei stanca e malata;
io voglio col mio duro lavoro
gudagnarti da mangiare e da bere.

Io voglio curare e occuparmi
dei bambini che sono con te,
ma sopra tutto di te,
povera bimba infelice.

Io non voglio mai rivelarti
che ti ho amato,
e se tu muori, io voglio
solo piangere sulla tua tomba.
