Ah, se mio padre non fosse sempre arrabbiato gli direi che cosa mi diede il mio amato. E arrabbiati, papà, arrabbiati pure: Mi ha dato un bacetto, e poi un altro ancora. Ah, se non suonasse così strano all'orecchio di mio padre gli direi che cosa mi giurò il mio amore. E stupisciti, papà, stupisciti ancora di più, non mi daresti mai a lui con gioia: Mi ha giurato il mio amato, sicuro e convinto, prima di staccarsi dal mio abbraccio: Io resterei a casa almeno fino a quando il grano sarà lietamente creciuto nei campi.
