Himmelsfunken

Language: German (Deutsch)

Der Odem Gottes weht!
Still wird die Sehnsucht wach;
Das trunkne Herz vergeht
In wundersüßem Ach!

Wie löst sich äthermild
Der Erde schweres Band,
Die heil'ge Thräne quillt,
Ach! nach des Himmels Land.

Wie mächtig hebt das Herz
Sich zu den blauen Höh'n!
Was machst vor süßem Schmerz
Es ach! so zart vergehn? -

O süßer Hochgenuß!
Mild, wie des Himmels Thau,
Winkt Gottes Feyergruß
Hoch aus dem stillen Blau!

Und das verwaiste Herz
Vernimmt den stillen Ruf,
Und sehnt sich heimathwärts
Zum Vater, der es schuf!

Vonken uit de hemel

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Gods adem waait en strijkt,
Verlangen stil ontwaakt;
Het dronken hart bezwijkt
In 'n innig, heerlijk 'Aah'.

Hoe lost licht in de lucht
der aarde zware band!
Een heil'ge traan verzucht,
Ach, naar het hemels land.

Hoe machtig stijgt het hart,
Hoog naar de hemelbaan!
Wat doet van zoete smart
Het, ach, zo zacht vergaan?

Hoe heerlijk is 't, hoe goed!
Mild als de hemeldauw
Wenkt Gods verheven groet
Hoog uit het stille blauw!

En 't hart, verweesd, gestrand,
Verneemt wat stilte riep,
En smacht naar 't vaderland,
Naar de Vader die het schiep!
