Der Fluß

Language: German (Deutsch)

Wie rein Gesang sich windet
Durch wunderbarer Saitenspiele Rauschen,
Er selbst sich wieder findet,
Wie auch die Weisen tauschen,
Daß neu entzückt die Hörer ewig lauschen:

So fließet mir gediegen
Die Silbermasse, schlangengleich gewunden,
Durch Büsche, die sich wiegen
[Von]1 Zauber süß gebunden,
Weil sie im Spiegel neu sich selbst gefunden;

Wo Hügel sich so gerne
Und helle Wolken leise schwankend zeigen,
Wenn fern schon matte Sterne
Aus blauer Tiefe steigen,
Der Sonne trunkne Augen abwärts neigen.

So schimmern alle Wesen
Den Umriß nach im kindlichen Gemüthe,
Das zur Schönheit erlesen
Durch milder Götter Güte
In dem Krystall bewahrt die flücht'ge Blüthe.

De rivier

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Als zuiv're zang die wervelt
Door 't wonderlijke spel van 't snarenruisen,
En weer dan vindt zichzelve,
Hoe ook de wijsjes buit'len,
Zodat verrukt de hoorders steeds weer luist'ren,

Zo vloeit daar, helder spieg'lend,
De zilv'ren stroom, gelijk een slang zich kronk'lend,
Langs bosjes, zachtjes wiegend,
Door tovering gebonden,
Daar z' in de spiegel nieuw zichzelf weervonden.

Waar heuvels graag daar verre
En lichte wolken weifelend verschijnen,
Als ver reeds fletse sterren
Uit blauwe diepte stijgen,
De zonneogen dronken neerwaarts nijgen,

Zó alle wezens gloren,
Slechts vaag omlijnd in 't kinderlijk beleven,
Dat, tot schoonheid verkoren,
- wat goden mild soms geven -,
In het kristal hun bloesems nog ziet zweven.
