Smutna rzeka

Language: Polish (Polski)

Rzeko z cudzoziemców strony,
Czemu nurt twój tak zmącony?
Czy się gdzie zapadły brzegi,
Czy stopniały stare, stare śniegi?

Leżą w górach stare śniegi,
Kwiatem kwitną moje brzegi,
Ale tam, przy źródle moim,
Płacze matka nad mym zdrojem.

Siedem córek piastowała,
Siedem córek zakopała,
Siedem córek śród ogrodu,
Głowami przeciwko wschodu, wschodu.

Teraz się z duchami wita,
O wygody dziatki pyta
I mogiły ich polewa,
I żałośne pieśni śpiewa.

Trübe Wellen

Language: German (Deutsch) after the Polish (Polski)

Fluss, wer machte deine Wellen
ach! so trübe dir, die hellen?
Sind's die Ufer schuld gewesen?
Will am Berg der Schnee sich lösen, sich lösen?

"Nein, den Bergschnee fesseln Bande,
Blumen blühn an meinem Rande,
aber wo mein Quell entspringet,
sitzt ein Mütterlein und singet:

Sieben Töchter mir geboren,
sieben Töchter mir verloren,
in des Gartens Grund geborgen,
still gebettet gegen Morgen, gen Morgen."

Und sie weint nach ihren Lieben,
soll mir das den Quell nicht trüben?
Sie begießt mit Schmerz und Sehnen
ihre Gruft mit heißen Tränen.
