Waldfrieden, Mittagsruh im kühlen Hain. Die Sonne silbert in den grünen Zweigen. Auf weichem Moose lieg' ich ganz allein und staune in das große hehre Schweigen. Die Wipfel weiten sich zum heil'gen Dom. Gleich Strebepfeilern stehen alte Arven; und durch die Räume zieht im Wanderstrom Gesang von Orgeln und von Aeolsharfen. Die Sehnsucht stirbt. Es regt sich leis das Leben. Die Erde keimt und sprießt: Gott Pan erwacht; und meine Seele fühl' ich aufwärts schweben, empor in Himmels blaue Wunderpracht.
