Seul en un coin tapi dans sa maison, A tous les yeux se dérobant, farouche, Tendant les bras, sans rime ni raison. Jamais un mot ne sortait de sa bouche. Mais au coup de minuit, d'une étrange façon, On cognait à sa porte ; -- une vague chanson Soudain l'éveillait de sa couche.
