Nei conviti, nelle feste, fra beltade e gioventù, a cercarlo invan torreste, non è cosa di quaggiù, è un immago tutta pura, è un sorriso di natura, è una luce di virtù. Dov'ei sia, qual'è il suo nome, un arcano, è pur per me, ma dipinto io non so come, pien di vita in seno ei m'è. Nè sembianze fra mortali, mai non vidi, a quelle uguali che il mio cor vagheggia in sè. Ah! vagheggia in sè.

Wo sie weile, und wie ihr Name, ist Geheimnis, ja selbst für mich, mir im Herzen, spriesset ihr Same doch sie selber erfasste ich nicht. Hier in diesen finstern Erdenreichen, giebt kein Bild es, das ihr könnte gleichen, nur das Herz vermag es ferne zu schau'n. Ah! vermag es ferne zu schau'n.
