Der zürnende Barde

Language: German (Deutsch)

Wer wagt's, wer wagt's, wer wagt's,
Wer will mir die Leier zerbrechen,
Noch tagt's, noch tagt's, noch tagt's,
Noch glühet die Kraft, mich zu rächen.

Heran, heran, ihr alle,
Wer immer sich erkühnt,
Aus dunkler Felsenhalle
Ist mir die Leier [ergrünt]1.

Ich habe das Holz gespalten
Aus riesigem Eichenbaum,
Worunter einst die Alten
Umtanzten Wodans Saum.

Die Saiten raubt ich der Sonne,
Den purpurnen, glühenden Strahl,
Als einst sie in seliger Wonne
Versankt in das blühende Tal.

Aus alter Ahnen Eichen,
Aus rotem Abendgold
Wirst Leier du nimmer weichen,
So lang die Götter mir hold.

De toornige bard

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Wie waagt?
Wie durft hier mijn lier stuk te breken?
Wie slaagt?
Ik gloei nog van kracht, mij te wreken.

Kom op, kom op, gij allen,
Als u dit waagstuk boeit;
In donkere rotsenhallen
Is mij de lier ooit gegroeid.

Ik heb eens het hout gehouwen
Uit 'n machtige eikenboom,
Waaronder eens de ouwen
Omdansten Wodan's zoom1.

De snaren roofd' ik als stralen
Der purperrood gloeiende zon,
Toen eens zij in bloeiende dalen
Verzaligd te zinken begon.

Van eeuwenoude eiken,
Van vlamrood avondgoud
Zul, lier lief, jij nimmer wijken,
Zolang ik godengunst houd.
