Lei recava nelle mani la coppa Tenendone l' orlo presso il mento e la bocca ed avanzava così sicura e leggera, che dalla coppa non una goccia cadeva. Non meno salda e leggera era la mano di lui: Che montava un giovane cavallo, e con un gesto che sembrava noncurante lo forzava ad una immobilità tremante. E tuttavia quando egli dalla mano di lei dovette prendere il calice leggero, sembrò diventare, per entrambi, pesante: perché tutti e due tremavano al punto che le mani non si incontrarono e fu versato al suolo vino scuro.
