1 [In finem, psalmus David.] Domine, probasti me, et cognovisti me; 2 tu cognovisti sessionem meam et resurrectionem meam. 3 Intellexisti cogitationes meas de longe; semitam meam et funiculum meum investigasti: 4 et omnes vias meas prævidisti, quia non est sermo in lingua mea. 5 Ecce, Domine, tu cognovisti omnia, novissima et antiqua. Tu formasti me, et posuisti super me manum tuam. 6 Mirabilis facta est scientia tua ex me; confortata est, et non potero ad eam. 7 Quo ibo a spiritu tuo? et quo a facie tua fugiam? 8 Si ascendero in cælum, tu illic es; si descendero in infernum, ades. 9 Si sumpsero pennas meas diluculo, et habitavero in extremis maris, 10 etenim illuc manus tua deducet me, et tenebit me dextera tua. 11 Et dixi: Forsitan tenebræ conculcabunt me; et nox illuminatio mea in deliciis meis. 12 Quia tenebræ non obscurabuntur a te, et nox sicut dies illuminabitur: sicut tenebræ ejus, ita et lumen ejus. 13 Quia tu possedisti renes meos; suscepisti me de utero matris meæ. 14 Confitebor tibi, quia terribiliter magnificatus es; mirabilia opera tua, et anima mea cognoscit nimis. 15 Non est occultatum os meum a te, quod fecisti in occulto; et substantia mea in inferioribus terræ. 16 Imperfectum meum viderunt oculi tui, et in libro tuo omnes scribentur. Dies formabuntur, et nemo in eis. 17 Mihi autem nimis honorificati sunt amici tui, Deus; nimis confortatus est principatus eorum. 18 Dinumerabo eos, et super arenam multiplicabuntur. Exsurrexi, et adhuc sum tecum. 19 Si occideris, Deus, peccatores, viri sanguinum, declinate a me: 20 quia dicitis in cogitatione: Accipient in vanitate civitates tuas. 21 Nonne qui oderunt te, Domine, oderam, et super inimicos tuos tabescebam? 22 Perfecto odio oderam illos, et inimici facti sunt mihi. 23 Proba me, Deus, et scito cor meum; interroga me, et cognosce semitas meas. 24 Et vide si via iniquitatis in me est, et deduc me in via æterna.

1 [Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen.] Herr, du erforschest mich und kennest mich. 2 Ich sitze oder stehe auf, so weißest du es: du verstehest meine Gedanken von ferne. 3 Ich gehe oder liege, so bist du um mich und siehest alle meine Wege. 4 Denn siehe, es ist kein Wort auf meiner Zunge, das du, Herr, nicht alles wissest. 5 Du schaffest es, was ich vor oder hernach tue, und hältst deine Hand über mir. 6 Solche Erkenntnis ist mir zu wunderlich und zu hoch; ich kann's nicht begreifen. 7 Wo soll ich hingehen vor deinem Geist und wo soll ich hinfliehen vor deinem Angesicht? 8 Führe ich gen Himmel, so bist du da. Bettete ich mir in die Hölle, siehe, so bist du auch da. 9 Nähme ich Flügel der Morgenröte und bliebe am äußersten Meer, 10 so würde mich doch deine Hand daselbst führen und deine Rechte mich halten. 11 Spräche ich: Finsternis möge mich decken, so muß die Nacht auch Licht um mich sein; 12 denn auch Finsternis nicht finster ist bei dir, und die Nacht leuchtet wie der Tag, Finsternis ist wie das Licht. 13 Denn du hast meine Nieren in deiner Gewalt, du warest über mir in Mutterleibe. 14 Ich danke dir darüber, daß ich wunderbarlich gemacht bin; wunderbarlich sind deine Werke, und das erkennet meine Seele wohl. 15 Es war dir mein Gebein nicht verhohlen, da ich im Verborgenen gemacht ward, da ich gebildet ward unten in der Erde. 16 Deine Augen sahen mich, da ich noch unbereitet war, und waren alle Tage auf dein Buch geschrieben, die noch werden sollten, und derselben keiner da war. 17 Aber wie köstlich sind vor mir, Gott, deine Gedanken! Wie ist ihrer so eine große Summa! 18 Sollt ich sie zählen, so würde ihrer mehr sein denn des Sandes. Wenn ich aufwache, bin ich noch bei dir. 19 Ach, Gott, daß du tötetest die Gottlosen, und die Blutgierigen von mir weichen müßten! 20 Denn sie reden von dir lästerlich, und deine Feinde erheben sich ohne Ursache. 21 Ich hasse ja, Herr, die dich hassen, und verdreußt mich auf sie, daß sie sich wider dich setzen. 22 Ich hasse sie in rechtem Ernst; darum sind sie mir feind. 23 Erforsche mich, Gott, und erfahre mein Herz; prüfe mich und erfahre, wie ich's meine; 24 und siehe, ob ich auf bösem Wege bin, und leite mich auf ewigem Wege.
