Exaucement
Language: French (Français)
Available translation(s): CAT DUT ENG GER
Alors qu'en tes mains de lumière
Tu poses ton front défaillant,
Que mon amour en ta prière
Vienne comme un exaucement.
Alors que la parole expire
Sur ta lèvre qui tremble encor,
Et s'adoucit en un sourire
De roses en des rayons d'or ;
Alors que tes yeux s'illuminent
Et fixent en ton sombre sein
La Visitation divine
Dont ils sont les miroirs lointains ;
Que ton âme calme et muette,
Fée endormie au jardin clos,
En sa douce volonté faite
Trouve la joie et le repos.
G. Fauré sets stanzas 1-2, 4

Verhoring
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the French (Français)
Zoals je jouw overwonnen gezicht
bergt in jouw handen van licht
wat kwam dan mijn liefde
op jouw gebed als een verhoring.
Als het woord uitsterft
op jouw nog bewegende lippen,
en zich verzacht in een lachen
van rozen en stralen van goud;
Wat vindt je geest dan kalme en stil,
als een in geheime tuinen sluimerende fee,
in de zoete voldaanheid van na de gril
haar vreugde en de rust.
