Fair daffodils, we weep to see
Language: English
Available translation(s): DUT FIN GER
Fair daffodils, we weep to see
You haste away so soon;
As yet the early-rising sun
Has not attain'd his noon.
Stay, stay
Until the hasting day
Has run
But to [the]1 evensong,
And, having pray'd together, we
Will go with you along.

We have short time to stay, as you,
We have as short a spring;
As quick a growth to meet decay,
As you, or anything.
We die,
As your hours [do,]2 and dry
Away,
Like to the summer's rain,
Or as the pearls of morning's dew,
Ne'er to be found again.

Narsisseille
Language: Finnish (Suomi)  after the English
Ihanat narsissit, meitä itkettää, kun näemme
teidän kiiruhtavan pois aivan liian pian:
kun aikaisin nouseva aurinko
ei vielä ole kiivennyt lakipisteeseensä.
Jääkää, jääkää,
kunnes malttamaton päivä
on ehtinyt
ilta-vesperiin asti;
ja rukoiltuamme yhdessä me
lähdemme teidän mukaanne.

Meidän aikamme on lyhyt; niinkuin teillä,
meilläkin on lyhyt kevät;
niin pian kuin kasvu kääntyy kuihtumiseksi,
samalla tavalla kuin te ja kaikki muukin
me kuolemme,
niinkuin teidänkin aikanne kuolee ja kuivuu
pois kuin kesäsade
tai kuin aamun kastehelmet,
joita ei koskaan löydä uudelleen.
