In hallenden Schlägen, im wirbelnden Ton.

[Bald]3 gleitet die Stimme aus [sanfterer]4 Brust,
Als Hauch der Gefühle, als Zeuge der Lust;
Ach [horch!]5 wie der Seufzer der Sehnsucht verhallt,
Wenn lieblicher Einklang der Seelen erschallt.

So, [Freundinn! ertönte dein]6 himmlisches Lied,
[Als Cynthia traulich]7 die Finsterniß schied,
Es wehte [mir Frieden mit]8 wonnigen Schmerz
Aus Schwingen der [Laute]9 ins fühlende Herz.

Ah, écoute comme le soupir de la nostalgie est retenu

Ainsi, amis, maint chant céleste s'est tu
Quand le feu de Cynthia a percé l'obscurité,
